BOOK REVIEW : 8 HOURS
Author : Upendra Namburi
Genre : Corporate Thriller
Aratrika Reddy, CEO of ARYA Holdings Ltd. has to save her company from going into bankruptcy within the next 8 hours. Over the span of these 8 hours we find out about Aratrika and her life including the people trying to take the company away from her and also even after a traumatic childhood how she has maintained herself.
She is not a perfect human being, she is flawed and some enemies who were close to her at various points of time in her life know her weaknesses which makes her more vulnerable. She is not only fighting on the outside to save her company but within herself as well (anxiety, depression, fear). This book more than anything tells us that trust is an inexpensive souvenir and how we should be careful with it.
This book is quite slow paced and at many places I felt that there were unnecessary details which I started skipping later on. Although, the narration is very good.
The first half of the book left me quite confused as to exactly who was plotting what because of several short conversations between multiple characters simultaneously, but it became clear later. This book does show the harsh reality of the corporate world.
My Verdict- 2.5/5
