CITY OF BRASS : SHOULD YOU TAKE A TOUR OF THIS CITY?
Author : S.A Chakraborty
Genre : Adult Fantasy
The author starts by introducing us to the protagonist of the book,Nahri, she is a theif, a con-artisit who deceives people by making them believe that she is a healer who has magic. Her life is quite interesting and the constant turn of events kept me hooked. Simultaneously, another character's story also unfolds but that story line did not interest me at all.
At the beginning, a lot of questions were being answered but as soon as the story developed everything was being kept a secret and it was very irritating. Most of the things were not necessary for the plot but I guess it's mentioned to help for the next book, yet unnecessary detailed descriptions really made the book a slow read.
It is the first book that I have read which had all muslim characters, so it was all new but the main plot remained the same,i.e, a girl who doesn't know her origins saved by a man who doesn't really tell her all that she needs to know which leads them fleeing for their lives.
I know for sure I won't be picking up the next books in this trilogy because the ending of this book didn't really amaze me. Honestly, Chakraborty could have easily finished this book in 200 pages and that would have made it a 5 star read for me. You won't be missing anything if you don't read this book.
My Verdict : 2.5/5
